CVD is the main cause of death in the UK, accounting for more than 4 out of 10 deaths. With the rise in Coronary Heart Disease (usually Angina) and Stroke we think it's important to point out the importance of diet and physical activity.
Regular physical activity means:
- The heart can work more slowly and the amount of work it has to do is reduced.
- Blood pressure is lowered.
- The oxygen supply to muscles is improved.
- Blood is less likely to form clots.
- Fat is reduced and replaced by muscle.
- The body keeps using calories after you finish exercise so you lose weight.
